A Special Meal Made on a Special Day
In partnership with International Care Ministries and Rise Against Hunger PH, ORIX METRO’s Corporate Social Responsibility activity contributed to alleviating malnutrition and hunger in the most underprivileged communities in the country for the second time following last year’s anniversary celebration.
More than 60 ORIXers have joined together in carrying out a meal-packing activity to prepare nutritious meal packs that are intended to support the health requirement of the beneficiaries. Each pack contains vitamins, minerals and other nutrients with a blend of rice, dehydrated fruits or vegetables and protein-rich soy nuggets which is enough to feed a family of four.
Symbolizing the company’s stay in the industry, employee - volunteers have successfully finished 47 boxes filled with more than 1,600 meal packs to be given to a chosen beneficiary who needed the sufficient nutrients the most.
For this initiative, ORIX METRO will be giving these meal packs to the ultra-poor communities in General Santos City.
Sustainable Farming at the Good Food Farm
Part of their poverty alleviation project, the Good Food Farm is Rise Against Hunger PH’s arm which aims to promote sustainable farming to help the people in the agricultural sector. Good Food Farm provides long-term food and economic security in Magdalena, Laguna for local farmers and other underserved local communities.
Employees from South Luzon Division have volunteered in this initiative to feed cattle, poultry, and horses; and experienced planting and harvesting various vegetables such as pechay and sitaw.
ORIX METRO Goes Lokal
Any celebration would not be complete without food! To make the company anniversary festive and supportive of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), ORIX METRO went all out with a variety of local delicacies and specialties. In keeping with the “Go Lokal” theme, ORIXers from Luzon to Mindanao showcased signature kakanins, pancits and other unique Filipino cuisine.
Head-office employees got to enjoy the taho (Filipino Silken Tofu with Sago (tapioca) pearls and brown sugar syrup) and sorbets (Filipino Dirty Ice Cream). Trays and bilaos of local Kakanins were also served to the employees as they enjoy variety of this delicacy which includes cassava cake, bibingka, sapin-sapin, and kutsinta. By going local with our food choices, ORIX METRO provided a way to support local food manufacturers of traditional Filipino delicacies.
Branches have celebrated the company anniversary in their own special way as they have taken their participation in this special Kakanin-Fest by posting photos of their unique local kakanins and delicacies in their areas through the company’s social platform.
